Thanks for the memories! Our Alumni Centennial Celebration was enjoyed by all and was made possible through the work of many over the last 100 years. There is a saying that "Many hands make light work". This is what we witnessed first hand, as we collectively planned for our Centennial and then witnessed everything fall into place on our 2015 Homecoming Weekend. We celebrated with 343 grads present, fillling our banquet room to capacity and having many more with us in spirit. Thank you one and all who took part by attending, sending pictures, writing notes and emails, working on committees, sharing your artistic talents, and to all who have been involved with our Alumni over the past 100 years.
Friday evening we enjoyed a wonderful slide show presentation, enjoyed a delicious meal, had an exciting jewellery draw, celebrated 50 years of graduation with the Class of 1965, and had lots of time to visit and share in our common bond. The BGH stained glass crest made by our own Donna Creighton, Class of 1968, stood regally on display for all present to admire.
The next day, Saturday, was another special day with BGH tours available in the morning and our Victorian Tea in the afternoon, serenaded by The George Rose Band. Guests enjoyed a lovely tea, another great slideshow, displays, a fashion show of uniforms from the past 100 years and a tribute to Our Miss Feely. Irene Feely was a graduate from the Class of 1933, who did so much to assist in archiving the history of the BGH Nurses' Alumni, as well as being a well known instructor in our school of nursing.
We ended our Centennial Tea with the band playing "I'll Be Seeing You", but it doesn't end there! On Friday June 3, 2016 we will gather again to continue making more wonderful memories. Our Guests of Honour will be the Class of 1966, as they celebrate 50 Years of Graduation. On Saturday, we will have hospital tours and then immediately following the tours at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel we will have a Service of Dedication of our BGH Stained Glass Crest. We hope to see as many Alumni as possible present to take part in the dedication and another chance to visit over tea. Your Executive has worked very hard this year and I know you won't be disappointed with our 2016 Homecoming Weekend! Take Care and I hope I'll Be Seeing You!
