Dr. Kai Gade Reaches 50-Year Milestone
50 years after arriving in Brantford, Dr. Kai Gade is preparing to retire.
In 1971 Kai Gade became Dr. Kai Gade, and soon after in 1973, Dr. Gade arrived in Brantford, working alongside the late Dr. Richard Johnson. Initially, their practice was based on St. Paul’s Avenue before they moved to a larger building on Terrace Hill Street directly opposite the Brantford General Hospital.
“Back in those days family practitioners worked in our offices, but also carried a large load at hospitals,” Dr. Gade said. "There were not emergency physicians, so we worked in the hospital emergency department and also delivered babies and assisted in the operating rooms.”
When asked if he would do it all again, Dr. Gade replied, "Definitely. It was a long stretch but enjoyable. Medicine has its drawbacks like anything else, but the relationships I enjoyed over the years with my patients provided me great personal satisfaction.”
Congratulations and thank you Dr. Gade for your 50 years of service to the patients, families, and communities we serve.
