Tomorrow, October 29, is World Stroke Day. This week's Hospital Insider focuses on knowing the signs of stroke and acting fast. A man remembered attending a speech that Walter Gretzky made where he talked about the symptoms of stroke. Years later, he was able to recognize the signs and act quickly to get his friend to the emergency department.
He suggests that everyone get to know the symptoms of stroke by learning the acronym FAST. It stands for: Face drooping; Arms cannot be raised; Speech is slurred or jumbled; and Time to call 911 right away.
