A Message for Patients and Families about Surgical Care at Brant Community Healthcare System
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you or a loved one are scheduled for surgery or procedure in the coming weeks at either Brantford General Hospital or The Willett Paris, we want you to know there may be possible delays. We are currently functioning at 100% capacity for scheduled surgical and ambulatory care, and plan to be back to full capacity for urgent and emergent care by November 23rd.
BCHS is doing everything possible to provide continued surgical care for our patients, while also faced with a number of challenges at this time including:
- A COVID-19 related back-log of surgical patients.
- Surgical equipment reprocessing is being completed offsite by a third party vendor and may cause surgery delays.
- A secondary surge of COVID-19 is causing an increase in the number of hospital patient admissions at BCHS.
- Flu season is here and could result in another surge of hospital patient admissions.
In the event BCHS is faced with an even larger number of hospital patient admissions, your surgery or procedure may need to be rebooked or cancelled. If this happens, BCHS will work with your surgeon’s office to rebook your procedure as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding, especially during these challenging times.
