The outbreak was declared Wednesday April 21, after two patients and one BCHS health care worker tested positive for COVID-19.
There are no new patient admissions to the B7 Unit and visitors are not permitted to the unit at this time, unless for compassionate reasons. All patients/families who may have had contact will be notified of the outbreak.
BCHS has all safety precautions in place to protect the health and wellness of patients, families, visitors, employees, physicians and volunteers. Safety precautions include:
- Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting all hospital areas
- Screening everyone before entering BCHS
- Mandatory masks for all staff and visitors
- Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Limiting patient visitors
- Contact tracing of impacted patients, staff and visitors (if applicable) with appropriate, ongoing follow-up.
The protection of our patients, staff and physicians remains our top priority at BCHS, and we are working diligently to bring a safe and timely end to this outbreak.
BCHS encourages all members of the community to continue following public health protocols – staying at home as much as possible, wearing masks in public, keeping a safe 2-metre distance from others and cleaning hands regularly. By following these simple safety tips together, we will be able to keep our communities safe.
